iPad 2 REVIEW

Apple One-Ups Itself- iPad 2 REVIEW.

SAN FRANCISCO — With the original iPad, Apple brought an attractive, easy-to-use tablet computer to the masses at a reasonable price – a feat numerous companies are trying to top.

With Friday's release of the iPad 2, Apple is pulling further ahead, with improvements that make an already excellent tablet even more enticing. It goes to show that when it comes to tablets, Apple refuses to be bested.

The new iPad is skinnier, faster and slightly lighter. It comes with cameras for video chatting and snapping photos, while keeping the same prices, ranging from $499 to $829 depending on the configuration.

Competitors such as Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. sell good tablets of their own, with many of the same features. Motorola's new Xoom even has a higher-resolution screen than the iPad. Still, nobody has been able to match the iPad's simplicity, innovation and style.

The iPad 2 looks much like the first iPad, though it has a sleeker, lighter body with a curved back. All this helps the tablet fit more naturally in my hands, and the modified shape makes it easier to hold for extended e-reading sessions, for example.

Among the most noticeable changes is the inclusion of cameras, one on the front and one on the back.

This is something I've been hankering for, as the iPad's crisp display, measuring 9.7 inches diagonally, seemed like the ideal canvas for video chat. The subsequent arrival of several tablets with front and rear cameras made it practically a necessity for iPad 2.

Fortunately, Apple thought so, too. Both cameras on the iPad 2 work with the company's FaceTime video chat application and the back camera shoots high-definition videos.

iPad 2 Release Day

How To Get Apple's New Tablet- iPad 2 Release Day.

The new iPad 2 officially goes on sale Friday, March 11, and Apple has released an announcement with instructions on when and where consumers can buy the tablet.

Users can order the iPad 2 online via Apple.com starting at 1AM PT/4AM ET on Friday, March 11.

The "magical" tablet will be available at Apple stores throughout the U.S. (there are now 236 of them, Apple notes) starting at 5PM local time. Buying the iPad 2 in an Apple store comes with an extra perk: "Every customer who buys an iPad 2 at an Apple retail store will be offered free Personal Setup service, helping them customize their iPad 2 by setting up email, loading new apps from the App Store℠ and more, so they'll be up and running with their new iPad 2 before they leave the store," Apple explains.

Also starting at 5PM local time, the iPad 2 will be on sale at AT&T and Verizon Wireless stores, in addition to Best Buy, Target, Walmart and "Apple Authorized Resellers."

The iPad 2 starts at $499 (Wi-Fi only) and $629 (W-Fi + 3G).

Critics have just published their reviews of the tablet and they have good things to say. "As of now," Walt Mossberg of All Things Digital writes, "I can comfortably recommend it as the best tablet for average consumers."

iPad 2 Alternatives

7 Tablets To Try Instead Of Apple's Latest- iPad 2 Alternatives.

Critics are gushing about the iPad 2. It's being called "even better than the original" and "the best tablet on the market." But not all consumers want to commit to Apple's new tablet.

Apple's "closed" ecosystem is often cited as one of the platform's biggest drawbacks. Furthermore, the iPad 2 doesn't run Adobe Flash player, while many of its competitors do; it also lacks a 4G offering, which some big-name alternatives now tout.

For those of you who won't be picking up an iPad 2 after March 11, we've got a list of non-Apple tablets that may strike your fancy.

Look through our slideshow of the iPad alternatives--from the small to the beefy, the feature-rich to the bare-bones--and vote for your favorites. Seen any great slates that didn't make our list? Leave your suggestions in the comments (below), or email us at technology[at]huffingtonpost.com. You can also check out our iPad 2 review roundup to see what critics have to say about Apple's new tablet.

Running Google's tablet-optimized Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) OS, sporting dual cameras and designed with a 4G upgrade in mind, the Motorola Xoom is a top choice among the iPad's competitors. Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal called this 10.1-inch device "the first truly comparable competitor to Apple's hit iPad." However, the Xoom's price tag ($599 for a base 3G unit with a two-year Verizon contract) may prove to be as daunting for customers as it was for reviewers.

iPad 2 Lines Snake Outside Apple Stores

On Friday, Apple released the iPad 2, a thinner, lighter, faster successor to the iPad.

When the original Apple tablet launched, throngs of customers queued up for hours (in some cases, days) outside Apple stores around the U.S., waiting to get their hands on the new device. This year, some fans again showed up days in advance to be the very first with a new iPads, while others auctioned off their spots in line to the highest bidder.

iPad 2 Review Roundup

iPad 2 Review Roundup: The Critics Are Head-Over-Heels.

The iPad 2 debuted on March 2 to great fanfare. Apple revealed several improvements consumers had been demanding since the release of the first iPad. The new tablet is slimmer, it's lighter, it's faster, it's packing two cameras and a few new features--all for the same price as the original.

The iPad 2 hits stores March 11, and reviews have started pouring in.

Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal praised Apple for retaining the iPad's original price while offering tweaks to the design and hardware. The iPad loses the most marks, in Mossberg's eyes, for not offering a 4G option. On the other hand, he writes that the iPad's app offerings and battery life make it a stronger choice over Android rivals. "As of now," he concludes. "I can comfortably recommend it as the best tablet for average consumers."

iPhone Clock

iPhone Clock Falls Back An Hour Instead Of Springing Forward? [DST Issue].

The Day Light Savings (DST) started in the US few minutes back when the clocks moved forward from 1:59 am to 3:00 am.

However, iPhone users are reporting that the clock fell back an hour instead of springing forward.

Mashable first reported the issue and we're seeing quite a few users reporting the issue on Twitter.

Though Mashable reports that the issue is affecting only Verizon iPhone users, based on the comments, it looks like the issue is not limited to just Verizon iPhone users.

This is not the first time, iPhone has been hit by the time bug, iPhone alarms had stopped working when we entered the new year and a DST bug had also affected iPhone users last year.

It looks like restarting the iPhone resolves the issue. So if you depend on your iPhone alarm clock then please be aware of the issue and the workaround to fix the issue.

iPad 2

Just as most of its competitors are rolling out their first multitouch tablets to compete with its game-changing iPad, Apple on Friday will start selling a second-generation model, the iPad 2.

The new iPad 2 is about a third thinner and over 10% lighter, yet speedier and more powerful than the original version, which sold a whopping 15 million units in its first nine months and, for many users, challenged their laptops as a digital tool. And it costs the same as the original.

iPad 2: Thin, Not Picture Perfect:

Just as most of its competitors are rolling out their first multitouch tablets to compete with its game-changing iPad, Apple on Friday will start selling a second-generation model, the iPad 2.

The new iPad 2 is about a third thinner and over 10% lighter, yet speedier and more powerful than the original version, which sold a whopping 15 million units in its first nine months and, for many users, challenged their laptops as a digital tool. And it costs the same as the original.

I’ve been testing an iPad 2 for about a week and I like it a lot. While it’s evolutionary rather than revolutionary like the first model, the changes Apple has made are generally pleasing and positive, and the device worked very well for me.

Its improvements, including front and rear cameras, outweigh the few drawbacks and feature omissions I found. For most average, nontechie users, I would recommend it over the handful of tablet competitors I’ve tested so far, especially given that the entry price remains attractive.

Dozens of tablet competitors are coming this year and I haven’t had a chance to test them. But the iPad 2, in my view, offers an excellent balance of size, functionality and price, and keeps Apple ahead in the tablet race, at least for now.

However, unless you are desperate for the cameras or feel you are laboring under the greater bulk of the original model, I don’t advise that iPad owners race to get the new version.

The first iPad, which can be upgraded to Apple’s latest iOS operating system, is selling for $399 while supplies last.

For Convertible Cars here's Handsfree Headset

Handsfree laws put your convertible-driving readers in a difficult situation. Conventional headsets, including “noise-canceling” Bluetooth headsets and speakerphone systems, only work at low speeds or when the vehicle is completely stopped because they do not function well under high-wind acoustic situations.

The NT3 (by IASUS), however, is a throat mic headset that sits around the neck, directly absorbing the vibrations generated by the user’s voice. In effect, the NT3 eliminates wind noise by simply not picking up those signals. This is what makes it the only effective handsfree solution currently on the market for convertible drivers.

Lamborghini Confirms Aventador

Lamborghini Aventador Revs It Up

The first real life video of the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 hit the web. It just features the car’s cold start and some revs, plus some footage of the graphical instrument panel, but that’s enough for you to believe in the Aventador’s awesomeness. As the spotter points out, the car sound much nicer in person than what you hear in this iPhone video, and that the rev limiter is at 6K when the car is cold, but rises to 8 and half when it warms up. Now we just need some driving footage of the Lambo Aventa!

2012 Mercedes SLK “Barefoot” Advertisement

Mercedes gets all deep with the new commercial they’ve made for the 2012 SLK. This ad boasts the car’s great driving characteristics which puts it in a very close relationship to the road. We’re sure that’s true, since the SLK features the very latest high-tech stuff that makes it a driver’s car specially with the 350 V6 petrol engine. But again, our beef with this car is about its looks. That kinda spoils the good driving experience. It’s like having a wife with an ugly face but a rockin’ body. Some people don’t mind it, but we like the package to be complete!
